Chen Hongshou(1593?1652) was a famous calligrapher and artist in the Ming Dynasty.
He enjoyed equal fame with Cui Zi, and the pair was known as “Chen in South China and Cui in North China.” He did well in drawing flowers and characters. This painting is a meticulous fan planning. Despite of its small size, it contains lots of objects and delicate techniques.
